pitter patter

This morning I heard little footsteps come into our room at 5:30 this morning. The noise was strange to me because usually when Laila comes into our room she is walks very slow and is very quiet. This morning I could hear the pitter patter of quick little feet. Of course it was Landon! This is the first time he has escaped from his crib. Luckily, we do not have it on the lowest setting yet so hopefully we will continue to contain him:) The kids share a room and there is no room for a bed for Landon. We are planning on giving him our old bed and matress when we move so I don't want to have to buy a little toddler bed for a short time, even though they can be pretty cheap...sooo..we'll see I guess! This is just a random picture I posted of Landon. It was taken yesterday while he was running around the house. I think he's adorable even when you can't see his face and he has got some funky hair!

Update on shopping bags

I used them Sunday night for a big trip to the grocery store. I used all 5 bags but they worked great. The cashier told me she has seen a few people with this kind of reusable bag and it is the best one she has seen. Supposedly a lot of them are annoying to work with. I should have asked which ones she meant but I didn't. I didn't realize they were going to be a nylon material. In the pictures they looked like cloth, but I am glad they are nylon..I think that helps me carry more in each one and will be easy to clean. You can tell how big they are by Laila holding one.

Surprise Surprise

We were flamingoed!! Thanks guys!! As you can see the kids think it's pretty great. Laila saw them at church yesterday and really thought we needed one for our yard. We are probably going to have to sneak it away from her to Flamingo someone else. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about..it is for a church fundraiser..I would link to Justin's blog where the video explains it all but I don't know how yet...

grocery shopping in style

I just ordered these envirosax reusable grocer bags of Delight.com
I have been eying them for a long time and finally decided to go for it! I am not a tree hugger yet and must admit that my main motivation is that we have no more room for plastic bags. I think they are pretty cute and happen to be a good idea as well. I have friends who use these occasionally so I know it is not unheard of but I am still interested to see how the baggers react. I am also hoping they are as big as the website claims. Supposedly they each hold the equivalent of 2 supermarket plastic bags. Maybe I will take pictures after my first shopping trip with these bad boys. Wouldn't it be great if they did away with plastic bags??

Happy Birthday Rylee!!

My best friend, Steph gave birth to Rylee at 8:09 this morning via planned c-section. She has lots of dark brown hair which you can't see. She weighs 7lbs 7.5 ounces and is 19 inches long. She is beautiful and I am just so happy for Steph and Tyler because they have been through a lot! I think the baby bug has officially bit me in the butt!! :)

A couple funnies

Laila's favorite book right now is a book called Pinkaliscious. It is about a girl who eats too many cupcakes and she turns pink. Sooo I decided to make Laila pink cupcakes yesterday for a special treat. As she ate one last night after dinner she says to me very seriously, "when you, daddy and Landon go to sleep I am going to eat another cupcake!" I proceeded to tell her I was going to hide them then. She again seriously says, "to where?"

Tonight Brad was showing me a gun he is getting online. Laila happened to notice and was making some comments that I don't remember. Brad decided to take the time to tell Laila the dangers of guns and how they aren't toys and finally how she should never touch daddy's guns. Laila nodded in agreement saying, "ohhh just pink ones."  Obviously we are going to have this talk again with her later.

We had a close one

I always read not to give hard candy to children under 5, now I know why. Laila got some lifesavers for Christmas so I had just given her one thinking she could handle it because she would probably chew it right up anyway, wrong!! About ten seconds after I unwrapped it for her and she plopped it in she started screaming hysterically pointing to her neck. I knew she had obviously swallowed it but I didn't understand what the big deal was. Soon she was dancing around the house continuing to whale. I ran for my cell phone to call the pediatrician's office to see what harm that would be for her to swallow one whole because of course, she couldn't be choking if she is screaming right? As soon as I found the phone she doubled over throwing up a bunch of water she had just drank and the whole lifesaver. Instant relief for her..and I..she was now concerned about the fact that she had thrown up all over the floor. So what happend? Why was she in so much pain? Was it stuck in her throat partially?? Well whatever happend scared me enough so no more hard candy for Laila for awhile!

If you can't say it right......don't say it at all??

Laila has a weird fascination with benches. I don't know why?? Unfortunately, she is not able to actually say the word bench. It comes out sounding like what some people call a not very nice woman.....bi**h(for those slow ones) Soooo....I had to take Laila to the doctor last Thursday because she woke up with a fever and complaining her body hurt, specifically her head and neck. I was worried flu or even meningitis(yikes). Luckily, they said she just must be getting a cold or something. The next day she was fine. Anyway, outside of Laila's pediatrician's office there are a bunch of benches. Leaving the office that day, there were a couple family's hanging around outside. As soon as Laila stepped outside she spotted the benches and yelled "look at all those b*t*hes!! 1, 2, 3 b*t*hes!!" I laughed and said yes there are 3 BENCHES honey.....just in case those people were horrified and wondering what my 3 year old daughter was talking about. haha...I think I am going to miss these times when my daughter is older and able to pronounce things correctly.
